Unimaginable Pain

Hearts broke across Canada on Tuesday, February 19 when a refugee family who moved to Canada from Syria fell victim to a tragic house fire in Halifax. The fire killed seven refugee children and left their two parents hospitalized.

Canadians across the country have been sending their condolences, and myself and the Going Farther Organization would like to do the same.

We ask that you please join with us as we pray for the parents. As they try to find the strength to go on. As they try to live in a world without their 7 precious children. Their names and ages are listed below.

Abdullah, he was only 4 months old.

Rana, she was 3 years old.

Hala, she was 4 years old.

Ghala, she was 8 years old.

Mohammed, he was 10 years old.

Rola, she was 12 years old.

Ahmed, he was 15 years old.

This is unimaginable pain and loss, and while it’s hard to comprehend, and we feel helpless, there IS something we can do.
We can pray, but we can also make a donation, to help to ease the financial burden of rebuilding your entire life.

I reached out to a local pastor to see if there was something else  that was being done on a piratical level that we could help with or promote, and this was his response.

“Vahen, yes, everyone is kind of lost as to how to help in this situation.  For this husband and wife to lose all of their children is an ultimate and inconceivable loss, as obviously it would be in any family. I have been able to interact with many of the refugees coming to Halifax, and the Syrian people are by far “family-centric” and all have with great pride many children. I have watched their closeness and dedication to their children and it is deeply important to them.
It’s beyond the ability to comprehend in any real way how to help, but lots of prayer, and the go-fund page is probably the best way if people want to help. The husband will not be able to work and both will need real therapy and support emotionally in the coming years, all of which will cost money.
Its all just beyond words that this should happen.”

World Changer in Solitude

There always seem to be too few ‘world changers’ out there. The fields are ripe so why are there so few harvesters? The answer is simple. The major battlefield for those who are potential harvesters is in controlling their time. There are many harvesters who are not nearly as effective as they could be. Their natural inclination, and even the expectations of those who send them, is to be involved with people and activities. They thrive on it. But to be effective they need to say ‘no’ to the horizontal dimension and spend copious amounts of time in the vertical relationship with their Father. They need to practice solitude.
