Vahen King is an author, motivational speaker, life coach, and yes even an ordained minister. But don’t let those titles scare you, Vahen describes herself as “just an ordinary girl” loving life and seizing every opportunity to empower and inspire those around her!
At the age of 23, one week after her engagement to the man of her dreams, Vahen developed Transverse Myelitis, a virus that left her physically disabled and dependent on the use of a wheelchair. Although Vahen portrayed confidence as she was trying to cope as a person with a disability, her “new normal” was facing feelings of self-doubt and exclusion. Reaching a point of desperation, she realized that she had a choice to make, to be paralyzed by fears and insecurities, or push forward.
Vahen states, “While Transverse Myelitis set me on a path I would never have chosen, it has lead me to find strength I didn’t know existed, and into the fulfillment of my wildest dreams.”
These compelling experiences set the stage for her ultimate call to action, to encourage others to lean into discomfort, ditch our “I can’t” mentalities, and choose courage to overcome your own emotional and physical challenges.
In 2017, Vahen King was crowned the first ever Miss Wheelchair Canada, and went on to win Miss Kindness at the Miss Wheelchair World pageant in Poland. Vahen states, “My pain journey has given me a unique platform to help anyone who has ever felt fearful, excluded, or unloved.”
Vahen currently lives with her amazing husband Vaughan, in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, and considers it a true honor and privilege to share her story of hope with the world.
I know what it is to be broken…
Over the years, many people have asked me when I was going to write my story, but I’d laugh and tell them I’m not a writer. But after 3 years of hard work and determination my book “Going Farther” was now in print. Yes, I’ve had to relive some deeply personal and painful times, but also, some of the best highlights of my life. Now, my passion encourage and inspire others to move forward and go farther!
Since the very successful launch of my book in May of 2016, I’ve had some amazing opportunities open up. Beginning with the launch of my non profit charity Going Farther, I have also partnered with National Hope Talks, and have been doing community events and school assemblies across Canada.

I have also had some of my words of inspiration translated into Russian and Polish, that have been promoted world wide. I have definitely been experiencing the power of God that changes lives through our simple acts of obedience.
